BZEWOOD Back Story

By Roy A. Turner, Sr.

As a youngster I was introduced to movies at the early age of 5. My cousin Mervin took me to see “She”. She was directed by Robert Day and stared Ursula Andress. That movie was the embedded inspiration that ignited my writing, many plays and short script over the years, however no one knew that I wrote them. Being the only child of a single mother, I was always left alone with a comic book or something to read. My mother got married to a British Solider by the name of John Turner (what an incredible human). Shortly after that we all left Belize and moved to England. The next 10 years of my life was amazing. I went to Avenue school in the County of Warminster, Wilshire. At the age of 8 I was introduced to play writing and production. I wrote my first play at age nine, it was called Sir Lancelot and his brother Edward. Not only did I write the play, I also played Edward, (I’m not a good actor). As the years went by, I would spend countless of creative hours alone writing nothing to speak of. The television shows that my parents allowed me to watch in the mid-sixties were fascinating. My father retired 10 years later. My parents decided to go back to Tropical Belize. Going back to Belize at the age of 15 was an eye opener. I could not believe my birth home was so raw. Seven years later I moved to California. HOLLYWOOD…WOW, who knew?! I would spend the next 30 years working as an Accountant, but because of my love for movies, I would also find odd jobs at every major studio in California just to be near some of the Movie or TV projects. I figured that being a Security Officer would be the occupation for me, and that I became. I’ve worked on every Studio lot in California, Sony, Fox, Paramount, Culver Studios and numerous smaller production companies and on many locations all over from Downtown Los Angeles to the desert. I have met many actors, directors and producers as a result of my occupational travels. Who cares about the pay, I would tell myself. Being around the lights and cameras was very exciting. My passion for Movies and Television has been inside me for decades. The love for my country and for this industry has brought me to this point. Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to BZEWOOD, a company that will bring “Belize To Hollywood.”
